A polished white porcelain cover has an undulating rectangular shape and a shallowly domed surface. Intertwined bands with gold-trimmed edges form a central handle flanked by smaller woven knots. Painted motifs of a blue-winged bird, a green butterfly, and botanical sprays of grasses and pink flowers decorate the top. The smooth glaze catches the light, highlighting the lid's irregular rim.
