Did You Know?

Tremissis means "a third of a unit," referring to this coin's value in ancient Greece.
One side of an irregularly circular gold coin features an inscription circling an image. Justinian I is in profile from the shoulders up, facing right, wearing a diadem and draped clothing. Latin text in tall, thin characters curves around the head. Small indentations and wear are visible across the textured metallic surface.
