Description

These six Daoist deities all carry plaques inscribed with their names. This group of six is the first set of half-officers, ranging from the first to the sixth month of the cycle. Album leaf 24 continues the series with the officers for the seventh through the twelfth months.
Black ink drawn on horizontally oriented tan paper features six figures walking across swirling clouds. Delicate lines define the figures in flowing robes and headgear, each holding a rectangular tablet with Chinese calligraphy. On the right, a large plume of vapor curves upward from the group. A red seal is stamped in the lower right corner.
