Did You Know?

Two attendants offer the True Lords covered plates, each containing a miniature reclining figure.

Description

This section of the Daoist pantheon portrays the three True Lords 真君: Tang Hong 唐宏, Ge Yong 真君, and Zhou Bin 周斌, who served as censors during their mortal years. Their loyal attendants help subjugate the figures at the left and are also compassionate to the common people.
An ink drawing on aged tan paper depicts Daoist deities processing to our right through swirling clouds. On the right, three main figures wear layered robes, the rightmost holding a whisk. To the left, smaller attendants carry tiered offerings and a feathered banner. Vertical columns of Chinese calligraphy label the beings with light skin tones throughout the scene. A red seal marks the bottom right corner against the background.
