Did You Know?

A baby is nestled in a blossom on the tray that Field Marshal Gao is holding.

Description

These six martial figures are Field Marshals in the Daoist pantheon. In the lower row from left to right are Field Marshals Li Feng 李封, Tie Tou 鐵頭, Gao Tong 高銅, and Wang Tie 王鐵. Field Marshal Wen Xiong 溫瓊 is on the top left. The inscription identifying the final field marshal has been trimmed off, so his identity is unclear.
A horizontally oriented ink drawing on tan, worn paper depicts six figures in elaborate robes and armor standing on swirling clouds. In the upper row, one figure holds a club while another grasps a tall staff. Below them, four figures stand horizontally; from left to right, they hold a rod, a sword, a tray of fruit, and a long spear. Small inscriptions appear beside each figure as they gaze in various directions.
