Description

Martinez, the Southwest’s most famous modern potter, formed this plate, and Popovi Da, her son, painted it without the use of a template. The design, remarkable for its precision and balance, features mountains (the stepped forms at the center) and either rain or snow (the parallel lines); a motif representing water or clouds appear on the rim.
