Description

The depictions of rulers found on this coin represents a realistic type of portraiture, similar to that found on coins in the West.
A silver coin depicts the profile head of a man facing our right, his thick, wavy hair bound by a laurel wreath. A thin ribbon trails from the wreath down his neck. Features include a prominent nose, full lips, and a heavy, rounded chin. Polished highlights on the brow and cheek contrast with darker, recessed shadows within the curls. The portrait is in high relief, set against the coin's worn, circular surface.
