Description

Hartigan produced these screenprints to accompany three poems written by James Schuyler in 1960: "Greetings from the Chateau," "A Head," and "Flashes." Each image was entitled with a phrase from a poem that emphasized Hartigan's inspiration in the visual quality of the poem's imagery. For instance, "On a Tar Roof' is the concluding line of "Flashes," which describes a predominantly "dark day:" just in one spot flashes in puddles On a tar roof
