One side of a gold coin features an inscription circling an image (see "Inscriptions" field). In the center is Victoria in profile from the neck up with wavy hair gathered into a bun by two thin ribbons. The Latin inscription "VICTORIA DEI GRATIA" arches over her head in serif capital letters. Below her neck is the date "1839." A small, beaded border follows the circular edge of the polished gold surface.
