The prince’s execution is prevented by the king’s viziers, who recount a series of moralizing stories.

Description

Embarrassed and angry that the prince rejected her advances, and worried that he will tell the king of her misconduct, the handmaiden preempts him by falsely accuses the prince of assaulting her. Since he has taken a vow of silence, he does not defend himself, so the king orders the prince to be beheaded.
A vertically oriented gum tempera and ink painting on paper depicts ten rows of black calligraphy above an illustration. On a pinkish ground, two men, one holding a sword, stand beside a smaller figure in orange trousers. Centrally, a man in an orange robe sits on a blue and gold throne, gesturing towards a woman in a patterned dress within a white architectural doorway on the right. All figures have medium skin tones.
