A vertically oriented etching in dark ink depicts a seated girl with wavy hair facing us directly. Energetic, cross-hatched lines shade her patterned jacket and the background to our left, while sparse lines define her voluminous, pale skirt. Her hands rest in her lap as wide eyes and a slightly open mouth create an attentive expression. The signature "Whistler" is in the lower right, with printer inscriptions along the bottom edge.
