Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A vertically oriented graphite drawing on off-white paper depicts a solitary standing figure rendered with dark, gestural lines. Facing forward, the figure wears a wide-brimmed hat and a long garment, holding an unidentified object against their torso. Dark marks beneath the hat's brim indicate facial features, while simple lines suggest the feet. The sketch is centered on the page, surrounded by empty space.
