Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on cream-colored paper depicts a sparse coastal landscape across a sketchbook spread. On the right, a simple structure with a conical roof crowns a hill above gestural figures and large, loose foreground shapes. To the left, horizontal scribbles suggest waves near the top edge, while a single curving line defines the shore. The minimalist lines merge the landscape into the surrounding paper.
