Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on two light-colored sketchbook pages uses loose, sketchy outlines to depict a landscape. On the left, a house sits behind a dense, scribbled tree. To the right, a tall, narrow spire rises above leafy forms. A fence with vertical slats spans the foreground across both pages. Quick, horizontal strokes suggest clouds.
