Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on two off-white sketchbook pages depicts a coastal landscape. On the left, a large gabled house with a chimney stands behind scribbled foliage. To the right, smaller structures and a dense tree cluster overlook water receding toward a distant landmass. A lone figure stands in the lower right foreground. Cursive notes mark the top of each page, and quick, gestural linework defines the scene's textures.
