Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on cream sketchbook paper features a sparse landscape spanning two pages. On the left, a gabled house sits in the foreground below distant rolling hills. To the right, another house rises above rounded forms representing trees. Loose, gestural lines define the scene, leaving much of the paper blank. Wavy lines in the upper right suggest a sky, creating a light, open composition through minimal, sketchy strokes.
