Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
Graphite on two horizontally oriented sketchbook pages features a landscape rendered in gestural, scribbled lines. On the left, loose marks form low buildings and bushes. The right side contains a larger gabled house with chimneys rising behind thick foliage, with cursive text reading "light water" in the upper corner. Rapid strokes and dark shading create a dense texture of organic and geometric shapes across the cream paper.
