Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing across two pages features loose, energetic strokes. On the left, a peaked-roof pavilion stands near a shoreline with gestural sailboats and figures. A large tree with dense, scribbled foliage dominates the right foreground. Overlapping lines and short parallel marks create shadows, while energetic scribbles in the sky and grass guide the eye across the busy landscape composition.
