Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing across two sketchbook pages features various gestural sketches in a landscape. A dark, vertical tree trunk bisects the composition. To our left, loose lines form a mound behind small, clustered figures; a larger figure crouches in the lower corner. To our right, more sketchy figures appear, including one sitting in the lower foreground facing away. Looping strokes delineate distant trees and hills along the horizon.
