Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on cream-colored paper depicts a wooded landscape across two sketchbook pages. On the left, vertical lines form a dense cluster of trees. On the right, two prominent trunks stand among quick, gestural scribbles representing foliage. A clearing recedes from the foreground toward the center of the composition. Loose, expressive strokes define the scene, with faint yellow stains along the paper's bottom edges.
