Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on a sketchbook spread depicts simplified human figures in the foreground and two rectangular, flat-roofed buildings in the center. The handwritten words yellow and green appear on the building to the right. Loopy, gestural lines suggest hills and trees in the background, while a small gabled house is tucked into the upper left corner. The entire scene is rendered with loose, sketchy strokes.
