Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented, expressive watercolor and graphite drawing spans two sketchbook pages, depicting a garden scene. On our left, two children with dark skin tones stand beside a person with a light skin tone in a brown jacket. A figure in a blue dress stands center while another in dark clothing sits to our right. Loose washes and vibrant dabs of green, blue, and orange define the trees and distant figures against white paper.
