Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite and watercolor sketch spanning two pages depicts a coastal cove from an elevated view. In the lower foreground, a red-roofed building nestles among green foliage. Blue water fills the center, dotted with several sailboats. To the right, a curved beach leads toward a village where small figures stand on a dock. Rolling hills line the horizon. Loose washes and sketchy lines define the scene in muted earth tones.
