Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented watercolor and gouache painting across two sketchbook pages depicts a vibrant coastal landscape. Simplified figures in red, blue, and black clothing populate the rocky foreground. To our right, small boats drift in a light blue-green bay. To our left, a red-roofed house sits among green trees and wooden railings atop a hill. Loose graphite lines and thin color washes define the simplified forms against the off-white paper.
