Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
Graphite on vertically oriented, off-white paper depicts a simplified sailboat within the upper third. The boat's hull is defined by rapid horizontal lines, from which three vertical masts emerge. The two masts at the left support rectangular sails. A thin spar extends diagonally from the bow toward the right edge. Faint, indistinct graphite markings and smudges populate the lower two-thirds of the page, creating a subtle, textured field below the sketch.
