Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on cream sketchbook paper depicts a village landscape. In the foreground center stands a dark, smudged figure. To the left, a gabled house sits above a stone wall and staircase. On the right, a curved road winds between two gabled houses toward the background. Throughout the composition, loose, gestural strokes define structures and foliage, while looping lines across the top edge suggest clouds in the sky.
