Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on beige paper across two pages of an open sketchbook depicts a landscape. Rectangular buildings span the middle ground, framed by thick, scribbled lines representing dense trees. Simplified outlines of several figures populate the lower foreground among rocky forms. The composition uses expressive, gestural lines throughout. A small orange mark rests on the center vertical seam, and the number 147 appears in the bottom right corner.
