Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing across a two-page sketchbook spread depicts a village nestled within dense foliage. On the left, energetic, overlapping scribbles suggest lush greenery surrounding simple, peaked-roof dwellings. A central binding seam divides the composition. To the right, more house outlines emerge, including one with a prominent vertical chimney near a gestural, fence-like structure. Loose, wavy lines define background trees and low ground cover across both pages.
