Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on cream paper depicts a village scene across two pages with loose, rapid lines. In the background, gabled houses and chimneys rise behind dense, scribbled foliage. A horizontal fence with hatched lines spans the center, while a small, simplified figure walks in the lower left foreground. Loose, expressive marks and varying pressure texture the buildings and trees against the light paper.
