Description

This sketchbook contains 59 pages of graphite drawings and 16 watercolors made at various locations on Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented watercolor and graphite drawing across two sketchbook pages depicts a crowd gathered on a green slope overlooking a blue body of water. Large, leafy trees with brown trunks frame the composition. Figures in vibrant red, yellow, and blue clothing stand in the foreground beneath a gray and pink sky. In the upper right, illegible cursive is written in graphite. The scene is rendered with expressive brushstrokes and loose outlines.
