Description

This sketchbook contains 72 pages of pencil drawings and 9 watercolors of Cape Ann. On the inside of the cover Prendergast wrote the address of the Granite Shore Hotel in Rockport, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on cream-colored sketchbook pages depicts a large tree with a thick trunk and wide canopy spanning the central fold. Behind the tree are simplified outlines of houses; the house on the right includes a chimney and a rectangular window. Loose lines and minimal shading leave much of the paper blank. The number 107 is inscribed in the upper right corner.
