Description

This sketchbook contains 72 pages of pencil drawings and 9 watercolors of Cape Ann. On the inside of the cover Prendergast wrote the address of the Granite Shore Hotel in Rockport, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on cream paper features sketches across two pages of an open sketchbook. On the left, a figure leans back with one knee raised and an arm extended for support. On the right, a second figure sits facing away from us toward the right. Both figures are rendered in loose, gestural lines. The number 45 is written in the top right corner.
