Description

This sketchbook contains 72 pages of pencil drawings and 9 watercolors of Cape Ann. On the inside of the cover Prendergast wrote the address of the Granite Shore Hotel in Rockport, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented graphite drawing on a cream page depicts two full-body figures standing on our left and a sailboat in the upper right. Rendered in dark, sketchy lines, the figure on the far left wears a long coat and head covering, while the figure to their right wears a wide-brimmed hat and long dress. To our upper right, a small sailboat with two masts is sketched against the blank page.
