Description

This sketchbook contains 72 pages of pencil drawings and 9 watercolors of Cape Ann. On the inside of the cover Prendergast wrote the address of the Granite Shore Hotel in Rockport, Massachusetts.
A horizontally oriented watercolor and graphite drawing spans two sketchbook pages. On the right, a figure with light skin tone in a dark dress and white head covering stands amidst organic shapes of red and yellow flowers. Behind them, a tan house with a blue door sits beneath a red sun. The left page is mostly white, dotted with green and yellow splatters and sketchy lines mirrored from the right.
