Description

This sketchbook contains 72 pages of pencil drawings and 9 watercolors of Cape Ann. On the inside of the cover Prendergast wrote the address of the Granite Shore Hotel in Rockport, Massachusetts.
Two sketchbook pages depict children with light skin tones on a rocky shore. On the left, a figure in a blue dress faces a sea of vibrant blue. Others sit or climb over large brown and gray boulders. Horizontal washes of gray, yellow, and blue strokes form the sky. At the upper right, cursive text reads "blue britches and whit." Green and turquoise paint strokes accent the rocks and water's edge.
