Description

Despite being identified as Spanish since entering the museum's collection, the origin of this crucifix is not so clear. The face and beard could bring to mind Spanish silverwork, but those same features may also suggest that the crucifix is of German design. The back of the figure raises its own set of questions, due to the fact that it has been left hollow and open.
