A vertical woolen canvas is embroidered with silk thread against a beige field framed by a floral vine border. A poem titled INDUSTRY is centered between two tall brown trees. Below, birds and flowers surround a building with a bricked top and striped pyramidal base, rendered in muted greens, blues, and golds. Oval medallions flanking the building name Mary Allen and date the piece to March 31, 1825, stating she was aged ten.
