A horizontally oriented etching in black ink on tan paper depicts the Venice skyline across an expanse of water. Fine, sketchy lines form clusters of buildings, including a domed church and a tall bell tower. To the left, masts of sailing ships punctuate the horizon. Sparse horizontal strokes suggest light reflecting on the water. A minute butterfly mark appears in the lower left, and a small paper tab is attached to the bottom edge.
