A rectangular silk and linen sampler features horizontal bands of embroidered alphabets and numbers in muted blue and brown thread. Thin blue lines divide the sections. Below diamond motifs, a row of five stylized plant forms sits above a final band of text. This inscription identifies the maker, Rebecca Raudenbush, and a birth date of October 1837. The embroidery is executed on a tan ground within a thin blue border.
