A vertically oriented etching in black and gray ink depicts a woman seated on our right, gazing through a window. She wears a dark garment rendered with dense, frenzied lines. Her chin rests on her right hand. To our left, ships and boats fill a harbor. An intricate, scrolling railing occupies the lower foreground. Repeated, layered strokes create texture and shadow, while thinner lines define the ships and distant water against the pale paper.
