A circular sword guard of dark brown, pitted iron features a scalloped rim around a central, oblong opening. Openwork designs of plum blossoms and gnarled branches occupy the interior space. On our left, thin branches arch toward the center, two flowers in full bloom. To our right, a wide branch base connects the rim to the middle, extending small buds upward. Organic shapes and negative space create a detailed botanical scene within the metal.
