A circular, iron sword guard features a central vertical opening flanked by two smaller side holes. An intricate openwork design of winding vines and two five-petaled flowers fills the disk. The flowers, with star-shaped centers, sit at the upper left and lower right. The dark brown and black metal is heavily pitted and textured. Delicate, scrolling vines connect the central openings to a solid outer rim.
