Associate Director of Advancement Communications


The Associate Director of Advancement Communications creates and implements an internal and external communications strategy specifically focused on the priorities of fundraising, community engagement and strategic partnerships, to advance the museum’s vision and mission.

This role blends both fundraising and corporate communications best practices and leads the creation and implementation of effective, strategic communications, working both vertically and horizontally across the Advancement Division and the larger organization.


Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, Public Relations, Communications or related field required.  Minimum of 5 years related work experience in a non-profit, arts or other public organization required.  Must have the ability to work independently and communicate effectively, and should possess strong writing, editing, public speaking and leadership skills, along with the ability to work well with other employees.  Comprehensive knowledge of media operations and current advances in effective use of digital and social media for effective corporate communication, including online communities, search engine optimization and other digital marketing tools. Ability to manage task-specific project consultants, suppliers and other vendors. Ability to work effectively on multiple projects under time and resource constraints. Detail and results-oriented, with a data-driven approach to making strategic decisions and allocating resources.  Ability to create and manage overall and project-specific budgets.
